Question:
I’m unemployed, I don’t want to go back to my old job, I want to find out the best career for myself and make my life easier. I’m at crossroads, how do I implement the Lazy Way?
I have purchased Fred's book and love it, though I find that right now it is hard to experience what he talks about. I am not working right now, due to the fact that I try to find the best career for me.
What would Fred do if he were in my position where I wanted to make life easier, but right now I don't know exactly what I want to do and the money has to come from somewhere. And going back to my old work is not what I want to do (medical secretarial). Yes, I could go back but only a thought makes me sick. I'm at a crossroads and don't know how to implement the info in the Lazy Way.

Answer:
First, you have to make a list of your gifts. You have an abundance of them, everyone does. Write down what makes you special and unique.
Second, write down what you are passionate about what races your blood, what you love doing, what, if you were doing it, makes it so you can’t wait to get up in the morning.
Third, answer this question with as many answers as you can think of. What do you give, that by giving it, fills you with great bliss?
Now, as you look at all these lists, consider activities where several of these gifts and passions intersect. If there are things that utilize several of your gifts and feed several of your passions, then you are definitely zeroing in on what is the perfect activity for you to do. If for some reason that activity does not seem to have a component that makes it economically feasible, then see if you can improve it by intersecting it with yet another passion or gift.
But let us assume for a minute that society’s expectations and your past participation in a creativity-deadening education have made you afraid to take an exhilarating plunge into a life of passion, joy, and success and that you feel compelled to punch a time clock to earn your pittance to keep your unhappy soul intact with your decaying body. Then I think you need to start with an attitude shift. Look for whatever joy you can in your job but more importantly look at your job closely. Analyze why it is awful. Consider what could be done to make it better, easier, faster, cheaper so that you at least can minimize its unpleasantness. There is always a better way. Perhaps you will find a way that can be marketed to other unhappy people and you make your fortune that way.
